Clutch Noise

I am having problems figuring out what this pop noise is when I am getting into 1st gear. If I let out the clutch EXTREMELY slow it won't do it. It feels like it has to pop into it but then its good. The tranny is good, so I am confused. Any help?

Sounds like the throw out bearing is going out. Is it making any grinding noises? I know mine didn't make any noise for awhile. It wore the clutch fingers out then started grinding. Guess when the bearing finally locked up all the way. I hope that helps you out. Michael

It could be anything from a bad throw out bearing to a broken spring on the clutch it self. You will probably have to pull the trans to see what the problem is.

Thanks guys. I knew it wasn't normal. My friend has a shop and just curious how easy is it to change a clutch on an 85 4runner?
