Power steering pump replacement questions

The monkeys down at the shop want about $150 in labor to do it. After a quick peek under the hood, it doesn't LOOK that difficult. I'm sure it varies from vehicle to vehicle, but in general (or on a 95 4Runner, specifically), is it that bad? I don't mind getting my hands dirty, and am not a complete moron when it comes to such things, so I think it's worth a shot.

do have a v6 or 4 cyl?you should put that jn ur sig. i am about to replace mine also.

Generic spec cost is $123 for labor at about $85 an hour (at a good mechanic; dealer prices are higher). Another good mechanic quoted 150. Just had mine done. Only reason I had someone else do it was time constraint. This was for 3vz.

$85 an hour seems way high to me. I am thinking a reasonable non-dealer rate should be $40-60.

Well, so far I think so, don't ask my GF though.... It LOOKS pretty simple, just a few bolts and hoses.... I'll probably go for it. Or just clean it up and try to fake it through the inspection.

Speaking of inspections, anyone have any brilliant ideas on how to secure the blinkers to an Addicted Offroad front bumper? The clowns said they were inproperly secured. They're on with three zip ties each (one per mounting hole, and another securing the wire). They're really sturdy actually, can't move them by hand. Not sure what else to try.

Given that most shops don't make a killing marking parts up, you want to re-evaluate that number?

If you think zip ties are the best way to secure turn signals and not bolts maybe you had better let a shop replace your power steering pump before you try zip ties on it too.

I take the blinkers off when I go offroading at the ranch, keeps em from getting busted up. Thanks for the input though.
