Deckplate and ISR Mod Help
Aloha,
I just bought a 97 4runner and am reading a TON on a lot of threads and other info provided from this site. But, this being my first 4runner, I am looking for in the future, someone who might be able to help me learn and do some of the mods (performance) on my rig. Not sure when these will happen, but if there is anyone out there who loves working on trucks and is interested in helping a newbie out later, let me know.
FYI, I have read a lot on each mod I am interested in doing, but I have little experience working on engines (I hope to change this with this truck).
Let me know if you are interested.
Mahalo,

I have the 3.4 V6, and the mods I am thinking of doing which are really only two, are:
1. The "deckplate" mod
2. ISR removal
How do you feel about doing these two mods first for engine performance (cold air and exhaust coming soon). There are also some other things I want to do electrically and interior.
The big thing is that I understand most what I need to do for each mod, but I would like someone experienced with our trucks to assist me. Not gonna practice fiddling around with these mods feeling 75% confident, know what i mean?

Nor will will get anything from a "cold air" mod. You already bring "cold air" into your intake. Take a look and see.
If you want to do something for you exhaust, simply run down to your local exhaust shop and see what they can do for you regarding using mandrel bent tubing the whole way, that is keeping everything, flow wise, as smooth as possible from the exhaust manifold all the way to the cat and then from the exit of the cat to the muffler and so on.
Not that it's going to really gain anything, but it will have a better chance than some 'ole "cat back" is.
Gotta watch out as there are a lot of people here with absolutely no engineering clue and that believe "bigger is better" for intake and exhaust.
No idea what things like "flow" and "surface reversion" are or mean or how they apply to the fluid dynamics of their intakes and exhaust.
