83 22r in a baja beetle
I am curently putting a 1983 22r engine in my baja project. It is a fresh rebuild (stock internals+bronze valve guides) and im lacking engine components. I do have some f.i. stuff but I think I want to go carb. still not sure about the exhaust since it will have to go in the opposite direction being in therear of the vehicle. I was hoping that some one could tell me the ideal carb/intake manifold/distributor combination for my application. I was thinking of a Weber 32/36 or 38 with a Offenhauser manifold and a LCE Pro Distributor w/o Vacuum Advance from L.C.Engineering. Would a 38 be too much for a stock head? Has anyone done this combination? Oh. and the three holes in the block that go to the oil system. what goes there. 1 is for the pressure sending unit. what are the other two??

Pretty sure the other two can just be blocked off. If you're talking about what I think you are, there are 3 or so threaded holes going into the oil passages on the block. If the truck was an SR5, there would be the oil gauge sending unit in one, the oil idiot light sending unit in another, and the third would be plugged with a little hex-head (not sure of the exact term..) screw/bolt type thing with some teflon tape. Not sure why there are so many, but on my truck only one is in use. I've heard a Weber 38 is pretty big for these engines, but I guess it depends on what you're going to use it for. I don't really know the answers to the other questions.
