4th GEN interior light ??
Has anyone noticed that the map lights on the 4th gen doesn't come on when you open the door or is it just my truck? I had a sunroof put in before I took delivery so I can't remember if they illuminated when a door was opened or not. On my 92 4runner, the dome light and the map lights come on with the door open. Seems like a small thing but it drives the wife crazy and I said I would ask you all. To me it seems like they should come on though. Sure would add a bunch more light if they did.

When you say you had a sunroof put in you mean you had some company cut a hole in the roof of the vehicle, I don't know if I could let someone do that I was reading that roofs are reinforced differently with a sunroof and without and putting an aftermarket sunroof in weakens the body, their are several topics on the Honda Pilot boards about it cause the Pilots all came through with no sunroof, now it could have changed I have not checked back,

Sun Roof
Yep I had a hole cut in my roof the day we bought the truck. Looks as good as factory, same warranty as a factory unit. Works great and guess what? Mine doesn't rattle!!!!!!!!HEHE
My 92 also has a aftermarket unit and it still works fine as well. I don't believe that it would be much of an issue. If you were putting t-tops in, that would compromise the structure I would think. Plus these are body on frame not unit construction. Anyway I have no rattles or leaks. Only time will tell.
The whole reason for the sun roof was an agreement with the wife because I wanted a 4wd and there wasn't any of them (sports) with the sunroof.
Oh, I'm not talking about the domes. I know how they work, just wondered about the map lights. Edge nice pic!

i am finding it very annoying that everything inside the truck is lit so dimly at night ... are there any aftermarket bulbs we can replace the stock ones with to improve the brightness/visibility at night in the interior?

Woody put Catz in his interior lights, but I don't know where to locate the bulbs... There are LED replacements too.
Do you mean general brightness ? Heck, I have my dash turned down to almost nothing. But, then again, I have my interior lights set to the off position too.

Ok, anyone have exact directions how to do this on a 3rd gen 4runner. I just tried it and blew a fuse, o well, thats what they're there for, right, hahaha. Well here is what i did. 1: took dome behind sunroof and in front of sunroof down, didnt disconnect wires. 2: took sunroof trim off. 3: took 18 gauge wire and put it in the headliner around the sunroof, going from back(middle) dome to front maplights. 3: to test it out, screwed back dome back on for ground, attached wire to DOOR side of switch from dome, attached other end to 3rd prong on front maplights, opened door, as soon as i did this all the lights in the car dimmed, and it blew the fuse. The fuse is 15amps, I dont see how 3 little lights could pull 15 amps, please help me. I really want all my domes on when I open doors. I dont even see how people could do the footwell lights, which i want to do, because those hook on to the same circuit. Thanks in advance. I have about 4 more trys, since I have 4 more fuses left, lol. I took all the fuses out of my old cars that I donated to get burned.
