throwout bearing HELP

I recently just swapped my 87 22r for a 83 22r I have a 5 speed tranny. When you put the throwout bearing on the shaft does those dog ears have to go in those clips on the fork? When I tried to put them in the clips it made the fork shaft not line up with the little hydraulic pin thing.

I did my tranny a few months ago. I called the toyota dealership and everything. Asked them if it was possible to put the throwout bearing in backwards and they said it wasn't. Of course aparently i found a way and had to do the whole thing over. It took me forever to get the thowout bearing. what i did was i took the whole fork out of the trany to put the throwout bearing into the fork with the clips. Make sure that the smooth side faces out. I can't explain it exactly but the clips go inside the groove of the throwout bearing and then wrap around the fork. It took me a while because everytime i got one side on the other popped out. I ened up slowly doing both at the same time which was really annoying. once you get the throwout bearing on the fork you'll put the end of the fork threw the hole and twist the throwout bearing a little bit so it will fit over the spindle. You have to go back and forth working in the hole a little bit then more on the spindle. it will slowly go one. If you need a picture i recoment the haynes manual. It has very specific instructions and shows pictures of how things should go.

thanks for the helpful info. I went and pulled my motor back out and put the bearing in there like you said, it made more sense. Now I just have to get my motor aligned up with that shaft and slide it in. I tried by myself and I wasnt able to do it. I will wait for help before I tear something up.
