Incorrect.

The motor mounts may or may not be different (never heard that before, but you never know. I kind of doubt it)

The difference between '81-'85(ish) 22rs and '86-'95 22r(e) is the head height and deck height. The earlier blocks were taller, heads shorts. intake and exhaust ports were differently shaped so the intake and exhaust won't line up correctly.

Just to be safe, '86-'95 22r/re. Basically all you are wanting is the short block- block, head(not necessary) pistons, rods, crank and associated parts. Everything from your truck will need to be swapped over.

just make sure you have good common sense apporach to everything and you shouldnd have a problem...

common sense would have had me make sure i had oil lol....

seems im lacking in that dept atm!

to me that sounds like a wrist pin to mine was doing the exact same thing ever since i bought it and i pit 15,000 miles on it some how but mine started out only making the noise at around 2800 to 3000 rpms then the more miles i put on it it broadened to 2000 to 3500 but if i revved it up high enough it would go away im in the middle of a motor swapp right now i got tired of hearing it lol

how hard is it to change the wrist pin?

did you have a lack of power?

to me there would be no since in changing a wristpin i didnt attempt it but two way ive heard drop the oil pan and go infrom the bottom or pull the motor either way while you have it apart i would just rebuild it if its not in to bad of shape and yes i had a lack of power not sure if it was just cause it was a four cyl or what i just bought a reboilt motor for $1100 shipped no core thats the route i took

the wrist pin is the pin that connects the rod to the piston
