Removing Alternator Bracket
Hey guys,
Im trying to remove the upper alternator bracket on my 22re and can not find the second bolt that is holding it down. I removed the 14mm bolt that goes through the block but cant find the second bolt that is still holding it in. I circled the bolt I removed in red in this picture.
Thanks

Im switching over to a GM alternator and have a new bracket that I need to install in place of the stock one. I'll check around the dipstick area.
Thanks

If you are talking about the tensioner bracket (below), only the one pivot bolt (the one you circled) and the lock down bolt in the slot:
This tensioner bracket pictured above is the exact one off my 1985/22RE engine.

That's it but I removed that one bolt and it still will not come off. The alternator is off already. I hope I dont have to remove the power steering pump in order to get it out.

in the following pic, you can see the bracket ear reaching over the top of the water pump fitting, just behind the fluorescent green bracket just below the center of the pic and it's bolt holds the dipstick tube in place (hard to see but it is black)

Do you remember if the bottom bracket was threaded when you removed the alternator? The bolt that allows it to pivot had a rounded head so I grinded it off. I can't tap the bolt out so it is either seized or threaded but I can't tell.
