the po put a three row in my old 92. it leaked. i soldered. it leaked. i soldered. it never over-heated. i replaced it with a csf metal 2 row. my fan ran less. it never leaked, and if it did, i could solder it. the plastic drain-plug, however, is b.s. it has a "slot" in the threads to allow aimable drainage. problem is after it starts draining, you have to give a couple more turns to drain at a respectable rate.

there is no way to achieve that without taking a hot, steamy shot of ethelyne glycol to the chest. its truamatic

I have had bad luck with the plastic tank ones
I tried a 3 row from radiator.com for a while, but it actually ran hotter than I was comfortable with in highway/hot weather conditions. Eventually, I switched back to a standard 2 row, and it's better.

Ive had a three core radiator on my 4Runner for two years and ive never had any problems.
I didn't say that it overheated, did I?
I report, you decide.

I'm not saying your wrong but I am slightly confused why it does that. Could it be a thermostat issue? I know the oem thermo in the 22re is set to open @ 190, and from what I understand if I have read right the 3.0 thermostat opens @ 180. So my theory is that the 3 row was cooling to much causing the thermostat to close and possible making the engine warm back up to 190 causing the fan to come on since I believe it gets its heat signal from the shaft sticking out of the waterpump. So IMO a lower temp thermostat maybe a 180 would solve the heat rise issue

I love this radiator. its pretty much a direct stock replacement. ( i sadly couldn't wait for the shipping, so i ended up getting one from autozone ) but if mine ever goes out again, this is definitely going to be my choice.
