Pull 3vze with or without transmission?

I need to pull my engine, but I am not planning on doing any work on the transmission. What is easier, pulling it with the transmission attached or disconnecting the two before I take the engine out? I figure the two main points are weight and manouverability when pulling it out vs. getting to all the bolts that hold them together when they are still on the car.

Any thoughts or experiences?

I would leave the tranny in and alone , or change the tranny seal while engine is out. I found it easy enough to leave the tranny in, the bolts are not that hard except for the 2 17mm on top

i would pull it together, unless you like trying to line the two up....

If it is 4wd, i would pull the motor and leave the trans

If it is 2wd, just pull the whole thing.

I have a friend at work, if he's doing work on the engine, he pulls the intake, then the heads with exhaust. Once you get that out the bellhousing bolts are right there.
He's done more headgaskets on the 3.0 than I care to mention. They were recalls, not his truck.

That must be the cheapest spelling error callout I've ever seen. Hey, it's almost the british version of the word .

I would take the engine out by itself... it is a little tricky to get the tranny out with the engine without a body lift on but if you have a couple of people to help it isn't so bad. The 5 speed is easier than the auto though...

Standard? you have to slide motor forward till you disengage the tranny from the clutch.....

Yep. Might even have to remove the fan and/ or the radiator to get enough room.
