Not Getting Fire to the Plugs
1988 toyota 4x4 pickup just rebuilt the motor. Last weekend tried to start for the first time found I had a fuel pump problem now I've replaced the pump and I'm not getting any fire to the plugs. Also was not getting power to the pump so jumped it. Checked the air gap on distrbutor it's with in specs. Any suggestions out there.

all the plugs to the ignitor connected? is the harness from the engine to the ecu completely connected? all your fuses good? coil installed properly?

Okay what I've found is that the diagnostic connector has no voltage to the b+ termial. By jumping an ignition wire to the b+ terminal I get fire an power to my fuel pump. The truck will start now as long as I pat the accelerator but runs rough as hell seems to be getting to much fuel. When I run diagnostic check I get a code 51. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks

code 51 is usually the TPS sensor (but not always 
).
but the fact you have to jumper power to even get it to run implies something else. so check all your fuses (under the hood and in the kick panel) and fusible links.
