You will definitely go a lot farther with a rear locker. I highly recommend that you do that.
However, the inexpensive part and the rides good part are too different animals. MANY people run lunch box lockers (very inexpensive) and are quite happy with them. A few folks have run them and hated them. I will NEVER run one, EVER. They chirp tires ocasionally, can be loud and clunky, and are hard on drivetrain components such as axles and transfercases. I have not heard of anyone blowing a transfercase however, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. If you want the best, buy ARB. Strong as hell, open diff when you want it, fully spooled when you need it. As for the snorkel, look up 4rnr on here. He has a pretty sweet one.

Search function on this site sucks a fat one! I have tried using it but it pulls up so much random completely off topic crap that I gave up!

Search the Lockrite. There is a massive thread about it, tons of info. It might be on the second page of this forum.
The search function works if you know how to use it

first off nice truck and welcome to the site... i have also noticed the search function isnt the best but if you go to advanced search it alot better....
you truck with a rear locker would go tons more places than now... if you want the cheap way. get a professional to weld it... i got someone to do mine for 100 and they work great... if you drive in the snow and just in general you have to change the way you drive.. but the offroad preformance is worth it.. if you have some money to spend go with a single e locker in the rear or a single or dual arb setup.. these lockers you can engange with the push of a button... ig you plan on going to a solid front axle you can elock the front too. arbs and e lockers are about a grand +.. the only other upgrade to you truck i would suggest is a rear bumper and a winch

for the locker i would get a lockright, its noticable but not that bad, look for the calling all lockright guys thread for everything you would want to know about that. i duno exactly about making a snorkel but im sure you could use some pvc piping and make one.
