Not the most authoritative place but... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/22RE#22R
says the 22r was made through 1995. From what I've gathered, they were not available in California after 1988. Can't say much about elsewhere.

Your going to GIVE it to your gf? Have fun if you two break up and you want money for it or want it back.

Looks like a good project tho.

But you've heard of... and maybe even seen... the spawn of the 22RE: the 2RZ and 3RZ engines.

You mean that 4 wheel drive needs 4 wheels to drive on?

Loos like a pretty cool little project... fix that dinged up front fender... then maybe throw some flares/ground effects kit on it, some kick'in rims and low pro tires on it and you have the start of a cool pavement cruiser...

For 200 you got a great deal. It looks to be in great shape other than a fender.

What!? No pics of the girlfriend? Awww...come on...I posted pics of both my gf's the other day.(j/k)
I must agree in several area's...
For the price. yes. Even if does become target practice for an AK.
Make sure it stays in your name. No sense in writing a country song,"if" your gf ever leaves and takes "your" gift w/her. (it only hurts when ya see an ex's new bf driving your old rig that you bought for her),LOL
Anyways...enjoy it!
P.S. Be sure to get a "trade payment" outta the gf!

Thanks guys!

I wouldn't really "give" it to my gf. I would let her drive it until she can buy her own vehicle. I know she really doesn't want a truck. But if she does buy this truck from me (or I give it) then I know she will at least have a reliable truck and I won't have to pick her up and fix what ever she is driving.

If I gave this away...I would still have my truck and my motorcycle. So its really no big deal.

Ezrider - I actually broke the flywheel bolts on that truck. I'm not sure if it was because I didn't torque the flywheel bolts, or it was because I got grade 8 bolts? I don't know but after it broke I lost all interest...and it had way too many problems. It was big, bulky, loud, slow, and I didn't like it. I would rather start off with something in "good" condition then change it however I would like.

And this is my gf sitting at the front of my boat.

Don't hate the 2wd! I'd love to have a truck I could use to get parts while I'm working on my real truck. Plus, no need for 4wd in the summer. I bet that little guy gets over 25 mpg, and that is a smart way to commute. If I didn't have my 88 runner I would definitely rock a little 2wd.

Edit: I love redheads! Give her the truck, or what ever else she wants!

Very cute gf... I can sooo see her in a slamin' low rider 2wd... kandy red with silver met shadow flames over a midnight blue velvet interior w/ custom T-roof (she looks retro enough to pull that old school detail off) ...
