ISR fitting question
Hey guys im doing the ISR mod right away and I have a question... the mod seems pretty straight forward and I have read through a couple "how to's" on here, but i was just wondering if anyone used brass fittings that are barbed on both ends for attaching the emission hoses to the new intake. I know in "Blu's ISR mod write up" he uses brass fittings that are barbed on the emission hose end and then a nut is threaded on the inside of the intake pipe to hold the fitting. Is there any other way to attach these fittings? The only reason why I ask is cause what if for some reason the nut on the inside of the fitting comes loose and gets sucked into the intake....bad news bears. If thats the way everyone has done it then its probably safe but I was just wondering if theres an alternative. (i dunno maybe silicone or epoxy the fitting to the intake tube??) thanks!!

There are tons of threads on this topic and lots of different ways to route those hoses and fittings. I guess it also depends on what materials you are using. Several posters have pieced it together with plumbing gadgets from Home Depot or Lowes. If you are using exhaust tubing, having a machine shop weld some fittings for you would be primo. Also, some folks just block off the egr and the pair reed valve and ditch those hoses altogether.

i just used a smaller bit when i drilled the holes,put the barbed end in the drill driver heated up the end and screwed it in. works for pvc and emt conduit but you would have to tap threads in for metal

Yeah there is a way to do it with a double barbed end. Just finished doing mine myself.
Simply go to your local auto store and buy a wire grommet/o-ring seal that they use for electrical wires. They are rubber and suit just fine. They come in 1/2 inch and 3/8 which will suit both sizes you need to plumb back into your new intake pipe. Comes up real neat, seals perfectly around the brass fitting and looks trick as.
You cant see my second hose as it comes in from underneath. Some extra pollution gear that it runs through before coming back up into the intake. For that matter you can barely see where the top hose goes in as its very close to the rubber seal. But hey. Is neat and there is no risk of anything falling into your intake.

I used threaded/barbed fittings and just drilled the holes and threaded the fittings right into the PVC conduit. They've never come loose, either.......even after a major wreck.
If you're wanting to use nuts on the backside, just use some loctite and/or some star or split washers. They won't come loose.
