Hood insulation? Is it needed?

hmmmm, ive been thinking of dynomat on the inside of my hood,?? just for engine noise. for my hood is herculined, dynomat is $$$ also want to put some in the back of the cab, when i do i will let you all know if it works

do NOT use the normal dynamat xtreme for under your hood. That is a thin layer of aluminum and a soft rubber compound underneath it. Great for sound deadening, but probably mildly dangerous under the hood. Dynamat makes a special hood liner material that you can look into. I haven't used their hood liner, but I put their xtreme sound deadening stuff on the interior of anything I install a stereo in. If you want to reduce noise, I seriously advise you use BOTH! If you just want to try out the headliner material, I think its even cheaper than the interior xtreme stuff.
