help - 92 3.0 losing minimal coolant

Got a 92 3.0 v6 truck with 248000 miles. Using coolant and not smoking white and not getting into oil. Passenger floor board is dry so rule out heater core. Can smell a burning smell and what smells like oil but barely using any. Considering maybe a water pump? No power loss and fuel mileage is at 18 mpg. Seems to be running fine but using coolant. Need help with this. Thanks

Looks like its leaking around valve cover gaskets. Not head gaskets. Oil looks normal brown and not milky. Could the intake gasket be causing this?

There's a coolant line that goes through the throttle body near the bottom. In other words, near the valve cover. Is that where you see coolant?

There's one that goes from the water inlet in front between the heads to the "water bypass outlet" in the back. Localizing your leak (front, right, back ...) might help point where to look.

Looks like coolant is on both sides but more towards rear on both sides but higher up from head gasket. Looked around rear lines back of engine and can't see anything.

Looks as though its actually leaking from valve cover gaskets.

Can you post up a pic or two? I'm having a hard time thinking how coolant can come out of the VC gaskets.

As mentioned earlier, it may be coming out of It could be the coolant bypass tube that runs between the cylinder heads and filling the valley with coolant.

I think I found my culprit. The heater hose going from heater control valve to engine block. I pulled on hose and it came apart right above the clamp.

Yeah but hose broke off above clamp. Now gotta cut away rubber to get to clamp...what a messed up angle. Hate these clamps. There was a pool of coolant below hose connection.

The correct molded hose, rather than just a piece of straight hose jimmied in, will work better. Not cheap, but consider how you'll feel when it's REALLY cold and the heat doesn't work.
