Gen1 4 Runner slider window L trim

I know that Corey/Slacker makes fiberglass ones

http://www.toyotafiberglass.com/IM001424.JPG
$150cdn for the PAIR

I have seen OEM ones around for sale
Last one I saw was $100 a side

I also have heard that there are TWO different screw types (a 6 screw and a 7 screw configuration?)

I was THINKING about getting a pair of L trim panels made up in stainless steel by subcontracting the job to a sheet metal place that makes Industrial Kitchen Counter tops and stuff.
Such as:
http://www.sheetmetal-usa.com/stainl...-stamping.html

What I'm wondering is target price...

$200 for the pair?

Thanks - so $200 is over priced (for you anyway)

Just at tip...when you are reintsalling the window use urethane to put them back in..its MUCH better than butyl.

IF you want to use butyl make sure that all of the old stuff is cleaned off and the surface is clean before you reinstall the window..they CAN fall out (don't ask me how i know) Goof off works well for this job

6 or 7 doesnt matter, there is just one extra screw across hte bottom for some, doesnt effect anything.
Just get corey's fiberglass ones, you'll be happy.

Exclamation Metal L Trim

Hey guys!

just landed my self a new metal L trim for the back seat window driver side ( current one has a golf ball sized rust hole in it.

i thought that all i had to do was take off some panels on the inside and unscrew it from the rear.

alas thats not the case. i was hoping that some one might have a step by step way of doing this?

thanks again. this forum has always been a good help!

You have to remove the complete glass assembly and once it is off, you will have access to the screws.

L Trim Removal.
To get the L trims off, you have to remove the whole window from the inside. On Passneger Side, I have my feet in the floorboard and knees in the seat, I place my left arm across the top and apply pressure from my elbow to my fist. Applying a little more with my elbow and start breaking the glue tht holds the window in. I try to keep all of the glue on the glass portion. I use a putty knife to help. Once I get the top seperated from the cap. I hook my arm thru the window to keep it from falling to the ground. Once the glass is out, the L trims are just bolted to the window part which will be visble when out.

Terry thanks for the pictorial instruction! next hot day on the weekend putty knife in hand ill hack at it! i was on ebay looking for a shifter bushing rebuild kit and going through the listings the L trim was there. i had to jump on it. I'm surprised what i can still find for my faithful blue 4 runner. just rebuilt the engine too. she's a 220k and she's ready for another 200k
