Flywheel + bellhousing

i can't get three of the flywheel bolts out. i used the impact them and three came out the others don't budge how can i get the rest out.

also what can i use to clean out the bellhousing is brake clean ok or is there something better

try heating them up. You would always put a breaker on the front crank bolt to hold the engine still, then get another breaker for the flywheel bolts.

or get a bigger impact gun lol

Also brakecleen works great, especially with a wire brush or similar tool.

you could try some penetrating oil, and then what deathcougar said with the breaker bars

PBBlaster (imo) is a good investment, (that and the breaker bar + bigger impact gun)

heat it up (i usually use my oxy-mapp setup) until it just starts to turn red. Then spray Deep Creep where it meets the flywheel. The heat will draw it in, then get 2 huge breaker bars and put one on each end. Just be careful not to heat it up too much and melt it.

PB blaster is a great product, but there really is no way to get it to the threads. Kind of a waste of money in this case.

there no way to get to the threads for pbblaster to work, and oil on the flywheel is not a good idea.

with the torch i can't get to any of the metal surrounding the bolt just the bolt head it self.

a breaker bar on the crank sounds like a plan tho.

Well after getting the other bolts off didja get the flywheel off? (Aside from using the bearing removal tool that *always* breaks...)? Someone here told troy and I some "newspaper trick" which we never had to try since we (O.K. HE) spent 8 hours dremmeling that rotten flywheel to get it off before reading the newspaper tip...

Let us know how it goes!

A bit more "impact" will probably do the trick. Try turning up the air pressure to 140psi-150psi also add some air tool oil to your gun through the air fitting. These things will substantially increase you impact's output.

Of course you'll want to turn the pressure back down when you are finished.

brakleen will work, but what works better is spraynine, topjob, or some other good detergent. I use detergent to clean alot of things. it works bewtter than solvents on most stuff.

Awe carp.... (I spelled the fish name instead of doggie poo) On purpouse cuz I now haf-ta go find that ole' newspaper suggestion to get the flywheel off. It sounded legit. Really it did. But we never got to try it.... *sigh*

well i got the flywheel off eazy the bearing is stuck in tho
and the flywheel was unmachine able so i have a new ome one on order

um............ about that eatth quak thingy yeah just becareful when i worked at my old shop the only time we used it was well to brake the studs bolts or what ever completely off there very good at doing that and with hat on the flywheel thats a bigg no no uneven heat on that and you got a warped flywheel thats just no more good to ya anyways just my .07 cents
