i would only go with 2.25" pipes but if you like to you can go with 2-1/2'' after the muffler for sound... if you where to stand next to my truck at idle where the exhaust exits my truck it sounded great had a real deep sound to it

The 2.5" muffler opening will slip right over a 2.25" pipe. That way they can weld right to it without using a neckdown adapter.

For the exit, definitely use a larger size pipe. I ran 2.5" out the back to the tip, but I honestly wish I had run 3" instead. The back pressure you're going to get will be from the pipe to the muffler, the rest is just tailpipe and for sound. A larger diameter tailpipe will give a deeper note.

He can use adapters or make it work with 2.25.
You'll probably lose power with a 2.5in exhaust.. That is if you were to do it all the way back. If you've still got a stock cat, stock manifold, etc, this is a bit of a silly discussion anyway (IMHO).

Want it to sound deeper? Add a header.. It'll sound deeper and perform better. Going stock manfold -> stock cat -> stock pipe -> 2.5" flowmaster -> exit is

Sorry but not everyone has the money to front for headers and full exhaust. I'm starting from the back first then i'll get to the rest of the exhaust as money becomes avail.

I absolutely understand that.. My point is that rather than spend $100 on a muffler that isn't going to make any difference over a $20 muffer, you might want to save that $80 towards a header... :-)

Good point, didn't think of it that way. I guess it's too late now but gonna work more hours to save up some money. i usually get the best so im thinking of going with the LCE header. Any noticeable power/torque differences or is it just in our heads, lol? thanks guys for all the advise.
