Failed SMOG Check. HELP

OK, I failed SMOG Check today (that crap is the devil!). The only thing that failed is that my idle was too high (950, should be 800), so they couldn't check my timing. Any ideas? I recently put a new (used, but tested OK) TPS on it, and I THINK I have it adjusted correctly. If not, would that cause the high idle? Would this be an easy fix, or should I take it in to someone who knows what the heck they're doing? Thanks guys!

I think mine idles at 900-950 with AC on? Is 800 what the state says it has to idle at?
Sorry I can't help good luck.

I think your SMOG guy is blowing smoke the last I heard it couldn't idle above 1100 RPM. I have my idle set at 1000 and I have never had a problem, even at a Test Only. Lover the idle and take it back for a free re-test.

That's my question, what is the best way to lower the idle? AFM screw? Thanks, again!

There is a screw on the throttle body facing the front of the vehicle which will adjust idle speed.

Set the TPS correctly: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...#TPSAdjustment

Then set the base timing (w/ test jumper installed) and set the idle speed to the proper value (using the large air bypass screw on the throttle body).

If the performance is otherwise fine, or better than before, it is entirely possible that the TPS replacement is responsible, and is now correct.

As a previous guy said, lower the the idle with the TB screw adjust, clockwise if I recall correctly.

Just got mine checked. I don't know about you guys, but in Idaho the idle speed is set at 775 rpm +/- 425.
