Damaged Distributor Pickup Coil and Signal Ring
I have noticed my distributor signal generator ring/wheel is damaged. Its the black sleeve below the rotor that has the four flat points on it. This interacts with the pickup coil (also shows some damage).
The teeth of this ring or wheel are chipped off. There is still some left but I imagine the timing would not be as precise as with fully intact teeth. I found the broken teeth stuck behind the pickup coil.
The motor ran fine before, but did have a few inconsistencies in the timing at idle (1-2 degrees).
Can this part be bought or do I have to find a used distributor? I can't b afford a new distributor right now so I may try and file the teeth down square and reset the air gap.
Thanks in advance,
