i know there are differing opinions on the quality....especially for a tool like that...that's why i did not suggest it before.

For folks using 150 lb torque wrenches, it should be mentioned that you should never continue to apply force to the wrench after it "clicks" - especially should never exceed the max torque setting. That can severely damage the accuracy of the wrench. So if you set it to the max setting, once it clicks, let off on the wrench and if you need to tighten further, use a breaker bar.

Well, that's true, but all affordable torque wrenches are made in China nowadays. Most of them are not bad, but, Chinese "quality" control being what it is, some of the wrenches probably are dogs. It will be the luck of the draw.

If you want to be sure, you can ask a local repair shop where they get their wrenches calibrated, or, if they are good guys, try comparing your wrench with theirs on a lug nut or two.

Or, hell........if they're real nice, they met just let you borrow it while you're there. I've got a bud who he and his dad have a shop here in Winslow. He lets me borrow things here and there. Of course, I'm also good, paying customer, too.

Rummaging around yesterday in a closet, I found a 150 ft-lb Harbor Freight torque wrench. Forgot I had this. So no need to go buy one. Just need to keep the crank pulley steady while I use it, or stuff some rope into the #1 cylinder.

Anyway, first impressions of timing set at 10* BTDC, WOW.... A noticable difference. Why didn't I do this before, I don't know. And this is with a dirty air cleaner and the auto trans.

Recently upgraded (June 2010) to 5.29's, rear ARB & 35" BFG M/T with my SAS. My 500 miles is up on the gear break-in period and I'll be changing the 2 diffs gear oil out this weekend. Also changing engine oil & filter, fuel filter, air filter & coolant. Might buy a rebuild kit for the PS pump and the idler pulley kit I didn't get with the water pump & timing belt.
