hey guys,
going to buy some Ball joint spacers here in a few months and was wondering if i would need longer shocks? also how do i find out the backspacing on my wheels? and one more question, how much cutting on the A-arm will i have to do to fit the spacers?

To measure backspacing, you put a straight edge across the back of the rim preferably w/out the tire and then measure from the wheel mounting surface to the straight edge.

With the b/j spacers the stock shocks will probably fit but will limit travel.

Can't help with the amount needed to be removed to mount the spacers as I haven't put mine on yet but just figure it out as you go.

1. Yes you need longer shocks, you can shim them to save some dough at first but expect to get 3-4" lift kit shocks for it.

2. If they are the stock wheels the backspacing is 4.75", you need wheels with 4" backspacing or less.

thanks for the help. im pretty sure i have after market wheels on it. so get shocks that are rated for 3-4 inches of lift? what are some good shocks that aren't to expensive? should i go ahead and do front and rear shocks at the same time? Im also going to do some lift shackles and add-a-leafs so will i need longer shocks in the back too?

if i do have 4.75 backspacing is there a way i can still use BJ spacers?

Sure you can use 4.75" backspacing-but it will rub BADLY unless you add wheel spacers.which I wouldnt recommend..

Does anyone here tell people to search anymore?!!!! There are already a few threads covering the same thing that have been started just within the last couple of days. Also, you really need to search because there is some untrue info in this thread.

On another note, I like my spacers and Frank at SDORI is a cool dude.
