So I already have a TRD cam in my factory 22R-E motor and it works great, but I am seeking more power. I read posts by different people suggesting that Engnbldr, LCEngineering and D.O.A. make the best performance heads. Can anyone make a suggestion on which company to purchase from.

I was also considering the adjusting the air flow meter a few teeth. Would this make any difference in perfromance? I am utilizing the factory air cleaner, a TRD cam ( the small one) and have an exhaust system from a V6 4Runner (cat back).

TRy a 20R, i know they do wonders for the 22R, I bleive they will fit on a 22RE also.

In terms of performance, you're wanting to match head flow (in CFM) to the right camshaft. LC advertises stage 1 - stage 5 heads in various CFM. Tim @ DOA has a ton of experience porting 22R series heads - he matches them to cams and will provide flow results. Tim did my head.

Engnbldr's son does head porting. I've heard good things and I really like Engnbldr, but I've never purchased a ported head from him or his son.

Adjusting the AFM adjusts your mixture across the board. I wouldn't suggest adjusting it unless you've done enough mods to justify the mixture change. The difference will be very small in most cases. If you do it, make sure you mark the original position.

My guess is that if you go with Engnbldr you'll end up paying the least... I know you can buy his "street RV" head sans cam for less than $500 and his cams are like $88 after that.

I bought and RV head and a 261 cam from Tim. I am very happy with it, and they are great to work with. It's probably overkill right now, but I am planning to put on a Weber 38, headers, and a multi-spark coil.
