backfire and no start

91 backfires and tries to start after replacing motor and changing distributor. im completely out of ideas

sounds like the dizzy is off 180..

I would say that either the distributor is 180 off as posted above, or the spark plug wires are not in the correct order.

its 180 off. Remember it has to be at 0' at TDC on the Compression stroke for intitial time.

I just went through something similar. Be sure the cam is in time with the crank gear. Turn to tdc, then check the top.
