I'm one of the fortunate ones with an original power antenna that still works and my truck is about 9 years and and has 135k on it. My antenna isn't manually controlled but it is connected to my HU just like it was stock so that it knows if I'm listening to the iPod or CD it doesn't go up when I don't need it.

Short answer: Remove the broken one and install the new one:

For power antenna mast replacement, you can also check these guys out, http://antennamastsrus.com/. They have the replacement masts for just about everything imaginable. I just replaced my broken mast and it was pretty easy.
