AFM problems!!! pulled the two.screws!!!
Hey guys, this is my first the writing. I have usually found my answer without having to join. Anyways, I thought I had a MAF sensor, which I don't. So I went and unscrewed the two screws, and realized that was a mistake. So I put it back in, and took the top.cover off to see the damage. Only the parts that were soldered came off. Not completely. But, I got it running today, although sluggish. So stupidly, I took my flat head screw driver and poked at the prongs. Two touched, and a spark came of that. Now the truck won't start. Any ideas? This is my work truck. I have this yota which is a 94 2.7 22 re w a 4 inch lift. I also have a 2008 taco wonly 32 thousand miles. So I hope to fix this one soon because I hate putting miles on it. Its a 120 mile round trip to.work, so miles add up fast.

Yes, you broke the VAF (Vane Air Flow meter, or Volume Air Flow meter). In theory, if you had a sophisticated knowledge of how they worked and were really good at repairing 20-year old printed circuits, you might be able to repair it. Good luck with that.
Part of the VAF is the switch that holds the COR closed after you start. Who knows what you busted with your screwdriver, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the COR.
Get out your multimeter and FSM; you've got a bit of work ahead of you.

Well, I got it started by jumping it. After ten minutes, I turned it off then waited 5 minutes. It still started. Will soldering the negative, and all together 3.4 and 5 terminals in the vafm put me back to 100%?

Good chance you may also have blown the IGN or EFI fuse, Hopefully you haven't affected the ECU.
Find someone that knows how to soldier really well or hit pick a part for another.
Remember to remove the steel little spring clip first and the plug comes right off.

Still runs crappy as well. It has power, but doesn't run normal. Also, the throttle keeps getting stuck and running at high rpms.without me holding the gas pedal down. Can this be the timing? Other than that, it runs. Lobe this yota!!!! Its my 4 wheeling vehicle as well, as I like keeping the 08 yota in great condition.
