'95 v6 engine issues
I have a 95 4runner with the v6 engine. I just completed a bunch of maintenance, timing belt, water pump, plugs and wires and a few other lesser things. The truck runs fantastic with one exception...
When the throttle is released I get a check engine light that comes on for 1/2 a second, the engine also seems to lose power for that time. If it's at idle and I just rev the throttle and let it go, sometimes the engine will cut out all together. Like I said, otherwise the thing runs much better than before.
BTW, this problem ocurrs at any RPM, driving or in neutral.
What am I missing?
Thanks!

Sounds like you need to test and/or adjust your throttle position sensor. There are multiple threads with links to the factory service manual that has the procedure and specs that you'll need. Definitely test it first because it's a pricy sensor.

Did you check for (stored) codes? If you get a momentary CEL, you probably have a stored code, which you can retrieve in the usual way with a paperclip. That will give you a good hint for where to start looking.
