89 t4r 22re 5spd...locked up after timing components replacement
Busted my timing chain dampers and replaced them with steel ones included hydrolics, sprockets, chain , water pump and gaskets. Now after buttoning up I got one turn out of it and now I can't turn engine at all. Seems to b locked up. Please let me know what you think asap.

Take the spark plugs out and see if it'll turn.
Then remove the valve cover and see if the timing marks will even come close to lining up.
Crank at TDC, cam dot at 12:00.
The dist could just be in wrong, it fired and compression locked...

oh, and something I forgot to add.
The 22RE IS a positive interference motor. The valves WILL hit the pistons.
Do NOT force the engine over... If it won't rotate even after the plugs are out, turn it backwards to check the timing marks.
(though it's prolly too late to save from bent valves at that point)

I was just talking to my dad who was working on it while I couldn't, he is saying he released pressure by turning the cam but the crank is solid..any Ideas. Were thinking, pull the oil pan ans check to make sure no debris from the old timing dampers is jammed or a bad rod bearing.

Im thinking if you've takin the spark plugs out and your still having trouble, you dont have it timed right therefor the pistons are hitting the valves.
Unfortunatly that involves taking it lose and doing it again.
