89 pickup 4x4 suspension help
Hey guys I was hoping to get some advise from you all.
My Toyota bounces like crazy and is in need of some shocks.
It also has a small "death wobble" around speeds of 50- 60
I was 1 click away last night from ordering bilsteins all the way around for 302 bucks total.
Im fairly new to truck performance, and wanted some input from some veterans.
I want my truck to be able to really handle the off road dirt trails when I go shooting but also want a truck that can handle my long commutes to work.
Im thinking about keeping it stock height but am not opposed to lifting it a few inches if needed.
What are some options I can look at? im thinking of investing about 1000 into the suspension.
Any ideas or corrections of thoughts is appreciated.
Thanks

In my opinion, I think you should start with the shocks and go from there. Unless, you already know how it rides with good shocks.
As for the options out there, there are a ton for your rig. Just depends on what you're tryin to go for. Do you want a solid axle? Do you like independent suspension and want to improve on it even more?
I wouldn't even worry about the long commute for work because if you do a modification on your suspension, of course it can handle the concrete. Just remember the mud tires will give you worse gas mileage than street tires, and don't forget aerodynamics if you modify the front of your truck any.
Look at some build threads on the forum, and you might find somethin you like. Or let us know even more info, because only you will know what makes ya tick.

Awesome.
No I I have only owned the truck for a few months so im not used to any feel other than crap.
I just didn't want to buy some shocks and end up skipping out on a package deal.
When I bought the truck it had a shell on it weighing about 250 along with a full carpeted tool box/bed setup which prob added around another 100.
the leafs look pretty shot, and I am assuming they will need to be replaced real soon.
Il have to do some looking around and some pricing.
Thanks

I was imagining you were speaking of that.
I bought a 94 single cab 22r and it wobbled more than anything ive ever been in!
My 89 is nothing like it, I have yet to get under it and search for the culprit.
once I throw new shocks on it il spend some time under the rig to inspect any extra unusual rubbing.
