i tell ya what i took out and put back the tranny in my buddies 85 now most the time i had to do it alone, Granted i have been working on cars since i was a youngin so i have hte know how but still what im trying to say is have patience and use common since! thats all i gotta say, both those go A LONG WAY and Having a buddy to help is ALWAYS a plush. and i did it in a gravel drive way to take it out! lol and it was my first time for a toyota tranny!

You can totally do it. It looks like a daunting task at first but it really is simple steps, a lot of them, but simple steps. The hardest part is getting the transmission to mate back up to the engine but like the advice in the write or like I did buy some new longer bolts and cut the head off. It gives you a guide and really makes it easy!

Good luck and enjoy the results and the money you will save. When I did mine I got a quote for just the labor alone was over $600 I did mine and replaced the tranny, and bought a bunch of tools to help and was still under the original quote!
