4x4 isnt working
2 nights ago I went wheeling and sunk the 94 single cab shortbox 5 speed, manual hubs 22re past the doors. There was water up to the pedals. Now my 4x4 isnt working. I can lock and unlock the hubbs, I can engage 4-lo and 4-hi. But the front axle isnt engaging. Also the front drive line spins. theres no cluncking or chattering from the front end. Can someone give some advice?

Did the 22RE equipped trucks have ADD?
If you did a manual conversion, but retained your ADD, chances are you have lost vacuum to the actuator on the front of your diff.

The two vacuum lines were both sliced on mine when I picked it up. Ran 2 new lines from the valves on the fender to the ADD actuator ... Fixed instantly 20 min job. Hopefully thats it

I dont have ADD, also the drive shaft moves, the hubbs are locked and when you try to turn the axle its locked in, the drive shaft when turned by hand feels locked too. I think that I blew the gears.

Unless you have breather extensions, sinking the diffs is not a great idea. The heat in the diff creates a vacuum when it hits the cool water/mud sucking in whatever will pass. But, pull the cover and have look. Just take out the bolt from the diff cover mount and drop the crossmember. Draining the diff first, of course. Wonder what will come out?

Okay.....when you say the front DS spins, do you mean freely by hand or when 4wd is engaged and you are driving? If it's engaging at the transfer case it should not spin freely by hand.
Jack the front of the vehicle up and try to spin it. It should not move (in 4wd) because it's "tied in" with the rear portion of the powertrain. If it does, then start looking at the transfer case. If it doesn't, then it's not engaging the front diff gears. Or, the gears in the diff are not engaging the axles. Conversely, have the vehicle in 2wd with the hubs locked. With the front jacked, spin a tire and the driveshaft and other tire should move also. If not, the diff is your problem.

Mmmmmm.....breather extensions are in order, dear sir. Might hook one up to the replacement diff before you put it in. It's a tight squeeze in there.
