3VZE Timing Belt Kit Suggestions

Hey all-
New member, first time Toyota owner, long-time Nissan fan... I used to have an 00 Xterra lifted, etc. so the 3VZE engine's power doesn't seem too bad for me...

Anyway, I just bought an 89 4Runner 3.0 with 152K and was told by the guy I bought it from (he works for a Toyota dealership and is very trustworthy, believe it or not) that it'll need a new timing belt within the next 10K miles. I want to do it now and wanted to know if any of you could recommend a decent kit. I've seen a few online but wanted to check here first.

Thanks!

Brad

I got a timing belt, idler pulley and the top bearing as a kit from them off ebay.. don't know if they still sell that kit or not though.

FACTORY BELT

trust me on this one. Aftermarket replacement parts are cheap for a reason.

Thanks for the replies... I saw a kit from DOA Racing. It seems a little pricey ($375 US) but I'm willing to pay if it means that the parts are quality and will not fail. I don't think it comes with the actual belt, so I'll go ahead and buy the OEM one.

Thanks

Personally I wouldnt worry about it.

IF the belt breaks, it wont hurt the engine, it will just stop running.

well i would DEF. change it by the 10,000 mile mark so keep yer eyes out. And if youve never changed one before, you do NOT want to change it after one breaks....

If you search for the guy on ebay using the handle "partsdinosaur" he has lots of engine parts, and he is who I got my parts from. 100% satisfied!

Tim Jenkins who owns DOA is a CROOK. He's ripped off so many people it's ridiculous. They ran his azz out of California. Just call the BBB in CA and look up DOA racing. When he pulls the same crap in NC those hill rats will hang his azz from tree - don't expect him to be around much longer.

Enginbuilder doens't have bearings anymore (talked to him end of last week when I ordered a master kit.) Just go to Toyota.

Penn Toyota (877) 736-6227 has mail order pricing.
