I emailed him this link. Hopefully he doesn't kick my butt for pimping him out on repair questions. I do that too often to him.

Here is my sig file from cottora about that:

That's why I just replace the whole thing instead of re-sealing it ...

Ah yes but you didn't adress my silly thought: That I thought RTV was involved in there somewhere...

hey all,...saw the post on this and it sounded similar to my post i did..so..this "idle air valve " is alis "air control valve"..so, this raises the idle so u turn the wheels L>R,R>L at a dead stop???is this correct..i couldn't find the purpose of this in the fsm

thanks...is there any testing procedures on this???

""Hard power steering
Hey all,
on my 93, 3.o,4x4, auto truck, the steering is hard to steer at a stopped idle..but is fine while its rolling...on the fsm online,,theres a progressive power steering..i dont have that..its the regular power steering unit page (sr-75)..now i've done the trouble shooting:the bleeding, the pitman arm, relay rod..all that is fine..what was strange was that it said the speed sensor plays a part too..mine was bad..but i jus changed it..still has hard steering at a stopped position...the only thing i can think of outside changing the whole pump is:

The flow control valve, does this sound like the culprit?..if so ..rebuild or replace

or the air control valve..how can this be checked to see if it is working properly
OH..I REPLACED THE O-RING ON THE PUMP SHAFT AND THE SCREEN IS CLEAN ALSO INSIDE THE RESIVIOR """

Sounds like your pump is bad.

Lemme guess - filled it with power steering fluid (not ATF as directed on the cap)?

lol very interesting concept....rtv in hydraulic pump lol. anyway, i ended up buying a rebuilt pump and everything is groovy now. turns out though, i wasnt getting the pump assembly seated fully into the housing which prevented the snap ring from fully seating. doh!

oh well now we know
