3/8" or 7/16" Bolts for Body Lift?

I'm in the process of piecing together a 1" body lift right now. Just finished making the pucks so I'd like to grab the hardware soon.

I'm just unsure if I should get 3/8" or 7/16" bolts.

On 4Crawlers website Roger says he used 7/16" bolts and simply drilled out the stock washers. Would you have to drill the body and frame also?

In the thread below, its stated that 3/8" is used and no drilling is required.

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...s-1-bl-200932/

I'd prefer to use 7/16" bolts since obviously they will be stronger, but I'd rather not have to drill out every hole in the body/frame. Wouldn't mind having to drill out the stock washers though, that's not too hard.

So, can I use 7/16" bolts without drilling any part of the chassis?

Any help would be appreciated!

Its apparently quite hard to find the right grade, thread pitch, length and diameter bolts in metric. Which is why most guys just switch to SAE to save the hassle of tracking them down.

The easiest way to tell would be to remove one of the bolts and see if another 7/16 bolt fits through the holes in the chassis, which is my only concern.

But it would be nice if someone could save me the trouble, lol.

Your local yocal is not going to have long metric bolts typically.

Body lift bolts are 10mm. I use metric on the body lifts I sell but I get those bolts in bulk. If you want to do SAE 3/8 or 7/16 are both fine, just get Grade 8 and the matching hardware at Lowes/Home Depot or something.

If you have a local bolt fastener place even better.

So the 7/16" bolts will fit through the frame mounts and body no problem?

I'm planning on going to a local 'Nuts and Bolts' store after work tomorrow.

Through the frame and body yes.
But you will have to drill out the washers...and there are 2 per bolt at least.

Red face

M10x1.25 Bolts are not that hard to find if you look at least up to 120 mm in length .

Well at least for me any how

I just picked up the hardware, I got the sizes SigEp4Runner posted in the thread I linked.

90-95 4Runner 1" Lift
Core Support: 3/8" x 4" (2)
Front Floor Board: 3/8" x 5" (2)
Rear Floor Board: 3/8 x 5" (2)
Cargo Area: 3/8" x 6" (4)

Except instead of 3/8" I got 7/16".

The holes I drilled in the pucks are 1/2", so there's 1/16" of play, does that matter?

The bolts have only 1-1/4" of threads, is that okay?
