Green would be nice actually i agree. Also good news. The slight headgasket leak i thought i had appears to be only a valve cover leak on both sides in the back. And.. drum roll.. I passed smog today.

The guy at the smog place told me i would fail if there was any type of exhaust work or intake being done. How does everyone else in California running around with their flowmasters get around this?! Glad i did this right before i start.\

Now to find out if those wheels i want, will actually fit my truck. I have not seen one older toyota with them in any pictures and cant find a confirmation anywhere yet.

I have been trying to research some more on the Black Rock 909D wheels to see if they will fit.

I have matched up these measurements, hub bore, lug patern and offset. Is there anything else i need to make sure of before i go ahead and order these online? I dont want to pay return shipping if i find out they dont work!

4x4 toyotas require a 6x5.5 bolt patern, which these black rocks have.

also need a hub bore of at least 4.25 inches for toyotas correct? These wheels are 4.28, which should clear?

the offset is 4 inches, not too far off from original toyota wheels which i believe to be 4.75 inches.

Teuf, i see you have done your wheels. Is there anything else to consider? Thanks guys.

Here is a link to the wheels if you would like to help me be sure of this! Black Rock 909D Wheels

update!

So i got in my performance accessories 2" body lift. Took me like 12 hours to get it all working right but its done, finally. Having some shifter troubles, too hard to get it into second, i shaved down the metal brace that holds the shifter boots in place and also adjusted where the boot is located in there, helped a bit but i think i need to cut out the cross bar completely and also bend my shifter a bit.

Here is the bracket im talking about.

and here is the after body lift picture. Some before are earlier in the thread.

Also my new test wheel came in. Looks like its going to work out!

now since the hub diameter of this new rim is 4.28 inches, and the toyota hub is 4.25 inches.. this leaves a bit of a gap around and it can wobble a bit more than the stock rim while sitting on the hub. How bad is this? I know the new rims use a conical style lug nut, is it ok to fully support the weight of the truck on the wheel lugs? I dont know much about this, but when its tightened down fully im sure it wont be touching the hub at all. Probably a millimeter of clearance all the way around, how normal is this? Just the affect of getting after market wheels that have to fit on multiple types of vehicles?

tighten the lug nuts down good and they will hold the rim in place some vehicles dont have a hub that goes through the rim so all that holds them in the lug nuts it will be fine!

Here it is! Ill take more later, had to get to work right after i got them put on.

They are just as i hoped! stick out just a bit, not too big, not too small. Perfect, i think!

I know all you 4runner guys have the saggy rear end problem. I wish mine was a bit higher up, matching the front a bit more would be nice. What do you think?

Valve cover gaskets replaced, new timing belt installed. No leaks. Yet. Now just waiting on the headers to arrive and the exhaust goes in finally.

Here is another shot. I actually found a way to use the center cap on the front. Ill post a pic up later on that. This is before when i had cut off the top of the cap and bolted on half of the cover. The inside diameter of the top half of the cover is a nice snug fit on the hub lock. Just kinda shove it on and it fits!

Hey guys, little update.

So the headers are delayed another 3 weeks, so i just went ahead and had the exhaust installed from the cat back and hopefully will just be able to bolt up everything else in the headers kit to the cat. Thats the plan anyways. Got tired of staring at my muffler and exhaust tip lying around!

I decided that im gonna get a lineX bed liner put in, so i took out all my bed panels and pounded them back to "new". Came out pretty good. I had quite a few dings in the bottom of the bed and wheel wells as well. Got most of them out with a jack, piece of pipe and some tire irons. The irons were just about the same width as the channels in the bed, put them on top of the pipe, and jacked the pipe up into each channel and hammered on them a bit from the top and its line new again back there, besides the rust and missing paint from usual wear and tear. Now to remove the whole bed and get out the big nasty dent in the front 3 bulges of the bed.. My cousin who owned this truck before me had a jetski in the back and had to slam on the brakes.. slid forward and kinda crushed in the front of the bed.. haha. I think i can get it out tho.

Nice and flat!

Also replaced my transmission fluid with some redline MT-90.. wow huge difference. I can actually downshift. And 2nd gear doesnt make me hate driving my truck. Altho its not perfect, its much better. Still think it should be torn down and looked at. There was a bit of a brassy metallic flake when i spun the old fluid around. My syncros were saying hi i guess.

Im in Danville for a week more then moving out to SF.. where i will have no access to tools or a place to work on my truck. UGH!

Oh yea, and the muffler is so much more quiet than i expected. Not sure if i mentioned it before but i was trying to get it to be on the quieter side but i didnt thing that muffler would be THIS QUIET! Its barely louder than stock, cant hear it at all in the cab over 1.5k, the engine noise/tires/wind takes over. Maybe once i get the headers on it will come to life a bit more.. who knows. Its not bad tho, i didnt really wanna have the in cab drone or be really loud outside so its a fair trade i guess.
