What is this piece for? 22RE

1985 4Runner, 22re w/ manual transmission, A/C, P/S

What is this piece for?
Where does it go?
Do I need it or can I get by without it?

Another great question from the new guy on his first rebuild. I have so much to learn on organizization and taking notes when taking part in a body swap/rebuild alone.

they are vsv's (vacuum switching valves) I think the blue one is your idle up valve. Makes your engine rpms go up when you turn on a/c or a heavy electrcal load.

The other not sure there is one for egr(different from year to year) and fuel pressure for efi.

They should go on your passenger side above the tire inside eng bay.

I still can't figure out where the hell that thing goes or what vacuum lines go to it. The most trouble I have had with the entire 4Runner build over the past 8 months has been this vacuum line . A word of advice for everyone out there; don't take pictures of your rebuild disassembly with you daughters camera because she will delete them to make more room for pictures of her dog.
If anyone has any pictures of this thing in the truck that would be awesome.

I already have the ones from Junkers thread accounted for. The ones mounted on top of the engine are hooked up and ready to go. Thanks though.

When I built up my 88 runner those things ate my lunch, recently built my 84 (with a weber) dropped in and rolled out. The manuals area absolutely no help with the vac. lines either

Alright guys, I started my truck today and it won't stay running. Im guessing it has something to do with this piece; I still dont know where it goes. If someone could please take a picture of where it goes and more importantly what goes to it, I would appreciate it.

Might be the VSV for the fuel pressure regulator:

Already have that piece on, thanks though 4Crawler. I actually used that page before to hook up all my other vacuum lines.

Throttle?

The button on the left looks like it is activated by something mechanical like the throttle. I would check around that.

I don't have that vehicle so I can't look for you.

Only other VSV on my '85 is the one for the A/C idle up. Engine should run fine w/o that part, assuming the affected vacuum lines are capped.
