I've was able to find a great condition 85 runner about a year ago. It was a nevada vehicle but some guy brought it up here to PA.

Anyways, I've put a lot of work into her...totally rebuilt 22re, knuckles, steering, suspension work. anyways...i don't want her to fall victim to the traditional rust and rot of the northeast.

has anyone had any luck with undercoating their truck...from an expensive rhinolining to the cheaper options?

im just wondering what you all would suggest?

I've never heard of or seen anybody Rhinoline their undercarriage.
I know there are some companies out there that will steam clean and coat them with an anti-rust coating.

When I had my '85 the plan was to just systematically go through and wire brush then spray some 3M undercoating on it.
That's time consuming but it's the best way to do it.

this is similar to por15 right? Is there a reason to go for the 3m version instead? Also...there are like 15 different 3m undercoating products...any suggestions?

It's not much like POR15 at all, really.
This is actual undercoating - it's like a rubbery version of a bed liner if that makes any sense.

I would just go to an O'Reillys, AutoZone or Advanced Auto and see what they have - pick out a seemingly intelligent employee and see what he recommends.

Also, if you have spots with decent surface rust I would hit those with a rust converting primer (like most of Rustoleum's stuff) before coating it.

lol, my truck is an 85, undercoat it as soon as possible, my frame is split in 4 spots, and will crumble in any given spot with a poke, along with the truck too haha. btw im from nj

sounds good...ill check out the 3m stuff and grab some extra wire brushes for my drill. time to get dirty

make sure you really clean it. and when you think its clean clean it some more or youll get rust eat away from under it

check out Al's bedliner, it looks really good. i was going to do the inside of my truck today/tomorrow but i cant get a hold of my local dealer.. pretty cheap to
