Snap Ring on Hub??

I've installed Longfields on my 84 4Runner. I'm trying to put the hubs back on and i've got them on, now the hub dial wont go far enough to get the snap ring into the groove on the axle shafts.

Anyone had this problem before?

Pull the axle out a little with some channel locks or something.

So its pushed in a little? I'll try the channel locks or something to pull it out. All i need is about 1/2 an inch or so.
