Pinion angle woes. (pic included)

I just got my 4" Marlin lift installed and while test driving it, I noticed there is a vibration above 50mph. I still have the stock rear driveshaft and it looks like the angle is a bit steep. I installed a 2.5* shim last weekend that helped with the angle, but didn't help the vibration. Take a peek see and let me know what you think...

Are you sure the springs are not in backwards? Mill wrap goes to the front. It looks like the axles way back on the spring. Got more pics from the side. Look how far back your slip yoke is exteded!

6 degree shims are what you should need and a CV joint.

I hope it's not backwards! As for the driveshaft, Tom Woods will be getting a call from me shortly. The front is way too short as well. I'll snap some more pics and post em tonight.

-edit- here they are...

Did you rotate your pinon up at all before welding your spring perches? I lightly tacked mine on and then used a jack on the pinon to push the pinon up, breaking my tack welds (after the U bolts have been installed but fairly loose). I got my desired pinon angle and them tacked them on good. Took the axle off and burned them in good

I also am running a CV on my rear shaft (from an 85 front DS) and have the pinon pointed slightly at the bottom of the t-case output.

The answer is to measure how far off the angle is then install the proper shim to restore the pinion angle, not just install any old shim:

I installed 4'' springs (pro comp) on my rig and now I have a metallic sound only on deceleration from higher speeds (read 65 pr higher). Even the tiniest bit of gas makes the sound go away. Any ideas?

I've found that no-load noise and vibration is generally due to loose or worn parts. Under load the drive shaft components are held tight together, but under no load they are loose. Things to look for are u-joints, the slip yoke and the pinion and t-case flanges. Feel all parts for any side-side or up-down play. And you can check the drive shaft angles, as noted above. Since the pinion tips up under load, you may have a pinion that is a little too low. So it may vibrate or make noise under no load, but once it tips up a little with the gas, it quiets down.
