Pinion angle woes. (pic included)
I just got my 4" Marlin lift installed and while test driving it, I noticed there is a vibration above 50mph. I still have the stock rear driveshaft and it looks like the angle is a bit steep. I installed a 2.5* shim last weekend that helped with the angle, but didn't help the vibration. Take a peek see and let me know what you think...

Are you sure the springs are not in backwards? Mill wrap goes to the front. It looks like the axles way back on the spring. Got more pics from the side. Look how far back your slip yoke is exteded!
6 degree shims are what you should need and a CV joint. |

Did you rotate your pinon up at all before welding your spring perches? I lightly tacked mine on and then used a jack on the pinon to push the pinon up, breaking my tack welds (after the U bolts have been installed but fairly loose). I got my desired pinon angle and them tacked them on good. Took the axle off and burned them in good :hillbill:
I also am running a CV on my rear shaft (from an 85 front DS) and have the pinon pointed slightly at the bottom of the t-case output. |

I installed 4'' springs (pro comp) on my rig and now I have a metallic sound only on deceleration from higher speeds (read 65 pr higher). Even the tiniest bit of gas makes the sound go away. Any ideas?
