Don't risk it get a known brand and do it right the first time and have no problems on the trail. Have a cheep set up and you will be paying way more in the long run for a bad decision.

Well it looks to be a rough country lift which is right up there with pro-comp and trail master. If you just want a cheap lift then go for it, but dont expect a smooth ride or much flex.

I was thinking about the same lift. I just want it for looks and light use. I dont know what makes it not so good. I think it will be fine

That kit is sold in my home town. I don't have one but I've heard good things from locals that have used it. Buy the rear springs - don't use the blocks and you should be fine.

I am considering the same kit - I'm just saving money at the moment.
My front springs have a negative arch and I will replace them before wheeling again. My 85 is not my daily driver though !

For light trail use it should be fine and get you set up to clear 32's or 33's.
Definitely spend the extra and get the rear springs. Sure it would be great to 'do it right' the first time and drop $1500 on the Marlin or All-Pro kits. But to get you started it will work and get you the bug. See how it works and down the road maybe decide to invest in a better kit.

One recommendation though would be to look at extended brake lines (F&R). When I bought my '81 the brake lines were about stretched out. $75 order to Trail gear and a few days later I had that part fixed...Good luck!

so there are two different ones... you should get the 3" one and let us all know what you think The company sells allot of other lifts and looks legit and Ruff country is reputable brand.

I don't know i'm considering that lift also since my 85' will most likely only used lift for trail excursions and there aren't any mt's in MN...
Lets us know what you decide!

You get what you pay for. If that's all you are expecting then there isn't a problem. Personally I wouldn't do it, I just ordered a SS#7 kit (don't know if they even offer kits for 1st gen runners) for myself. I have bought cheap options on various things before and always ended up doing it right later on down the road, thereby costing me more $$ than if I had saved longer and did it right the 1st time. Just my opinion

I have this kit installed and it is fine. Not a ton of flex, but a better ride than my stock seized up suspension. I got the 1.5 inch greasable shackles too as you may not be able to reuse your old ones, and definitely needed the extended brake lines.

i dunno about them but i went with the downey 3 inch kit and its incredible over stock... i got bit by the travel bug so im itchin for more travel now.. heres the stock before and the after
completely flexed


and now with the downey three inch and prerunner AAL

and i can beat the hell out of it and still drive it home.... oh and it was only 368 bucks shipped to me!!
