22R Stutters

A couple of month's ago I finished repairing This 85 22R truck after it sat in my uncles Yard for 2years because it was rolled. When I'am driving the truck it seems to be underpowered most of the time and takes forever to get up to 55 and sometimes won't even when I floor it. Occasionaly though it gets right on up there smoothly and a decent pace too. Also most of the time when I'am driving it my foot will have the peddle almost 3/4 of the way down but it seems that once the gas pedal reaches 3/4's or around that area the engine starts to stutter and you have to push it past that and floor it for it run smoothe. Any ideas?

After sitting for 2 years the carbmight need to be rebuilt or atleast taken a part and cleaned out, check all the vacuum hoses to make sure everything is hooked up properly, and also check the timing

Have you done a basic tune-up on it? A smog control might not be working correctly and causing those problems. There is no vacuum when it is floored, so anything that works off of vacuum, like a lot of smog controls, will be shut off.

put a new fuel filter on it while you go about whatever other route you plan. they're a service item so its probably due anyway. i had acceleration issues due to clogged filter in my first yota.

again second supernerd on the tune up items, thats first base getting these engines to tick well. if you dont know the history of the vehicle, then just get it all replaced over the next year or so (belts, hoses, fluids filters plugs wires distributor coolant etc). the bill adds up, but its ultimately far less expensive if the truck is running well.

sounds like vaccum advance might be fubar. check by removing distro cap, and the two vac hoses on the carb side. Suck in the hoses or get your woman too
you should be able to visualize the advance on the distro plate.
