So it will start up idle high then low then die? Can you keep it running? Hold the throttle open a bit? The more we know about the truck what it's doing did it do anything funny before it stared acting up? The better it helps us help you. I dot know much about the carbs on these trucks but is it possible that you have a sticking cable somewhere? Do you have a vacuum leak on the intake? Spraying starter fluid to find possible vacuum leaks works well. When the engine rpms climb quickly the area you sprayed has a vacuum leak more than likely. Basic things I would check for are electrical connections. Plugs, Coil, All your grounds and any wiring you moved around. These wires are old and brittle. Fuel filter? Broken/leaking Fuel line? Dirty clogged fuel line. Maybe dirty lines and need to clean the tankard or pump filter? Blow out the fuel lines? Clogged jet in the carb? Sticking float? Choke? Just random thoughts and ideas. Hope this helps

So I actually figured out the issue it was the igniter and new spark plug wires, I assume I kept dieing because the engine wasn't recuevung enough spark to run properly
