A swap question
I have been looking on here for a long time and I can't find the answer I am looking for. I am getting ready to swap out a 20r out of my 1980 and put in a 22r from a 1983 and I can't find if I need the PCM out of the 83 or what other wiring stuff I need.

I'm not sure what a PCM is, but should be pretty much a drop in situation, other than the emissions crap. Best bet would be to strip all that off if you can get away with it (I don't know where you are located). Stripped down 22R with a Weber is one of the most easy to work on/reliable setups out there. Bonus if it's the doubble row timing chain.

"Best" is really a matter of opinion. To an extent it depends on what you're going to do. Are you doing a full rebuild? adding performance parts? or just a "freshen up" kind of rebuild? I personally like LC Engineering, their quality is top notch, but they aren't the cheapest. Quite a few people on here like engnbldr.com.

I use Top Line bearings, rings, timing chain set, and timing gaskets. Great company they come out of Chicago and can be at a local dealer in a day. I usually use Toyota Head gasket too.
