Mine has neither of those. Actually I've found my wheels are the same as fj wheels of that generation. Maybe they were a dealer item ??

Somewhere over the last 34 years they must have been changed...so you have the later SR5 spoked wheels?....those started in 81 on the SR5 trucks, not sure when on the FJ Cruisers....

I bought the truck from second owner and have spoke with original since they both live in my town. Neither of them changed the wheels. That's how the original owner bought it from the dealer.

Do you know where a guy could get a pr of those these days? I was thinking of fixing up my OEM chrome wheels.

Hey 81 Toyo,

I noticed you have a 1983 Mirage Edition listed in your sig. I used to have one of them about 16 years ago, but could never really find out anything on exactly what the edition had that made them limited other than the MIRAGE decal on the bottom of the doors.

The Mirage package was offered 82 and 83.....it included from the dealership, Toyota roll bar, chrome SR5 wheels ,tube rear bumper and front bull bar, all had silver metallic paint with Mirage graphics on the hood, and doors. Mine has a silver plague on the glovebox door the reads..Mirage Limited Edition....I've seen this on one other one. Not much info on them other than a YouTube commercial for the 82 one. Got any pics of yours?

I should. I will try and dig them up after work. It was in pretty bad shape when I got it. Bought it for $600 and had to drive it 2 hours home with no bed on it. When I got it to my dad's shop my buddy and I had to jump it since it had some wiring issues. Well, the battery blew up in my face bcuse the battery had a small crack in it. I had acid all over my neck. My buddy who was in the cab cranking it thought I was dead. He was more scared than I was.

Sometimes I wonder how I am still alive from some of the crazy stuff I have gotten myself into over the years.

Here's pics of the pics. The bed was a crappy one from a buddy's truck I traded for a 3/8 craftsman ratchet. I don't know who made out better in the deal.
