lower and mid throttle problems 20/22 hybrid
to make this short I have fixed a ripped intake gasket, fixed the choke (I put it back on wrong), replaced the vacuum advance on the dizzy, installed a 20r secondary(170) in the 22r (108) primary slot reason being it felt like it was running out of gas at cruise'n speed but when I opened the secondaries it would run very well. With the 170 in the primary slot it bogs down a little at first but picks up and runs smooth. I am gonna put he 20r (121)primary in the 22r primary slot to see if it will run smooth with it and take the bog out of the throttle. If that does not I plan to put the 170 back in and sand the cam down a little that the foot pump rides on (so it will open a little slower and later than what it does now.I have an extra to experiment with.)
Does anyone have any suggestions besides intalling a weber it is out of the picture for now.

I have a reeeeeally cheap suggestion:
FUEL FILTERS!!!
My truck was doing the exact same thing last week. It would run fine at idle and at cruising speeds for a little bit, but then all of the sudden it would feel like somebody was just pulling the plug on it. It would recover for a few second and then bog down again. I would have to slow down to get it to even run consistantly. I knew that everything else was fine so I checked the fuel filters... YIKES!! It was caked up with all kinds of stuff (found a few bugs in it too!!)
The fuel lines were literally the only hoses the I hadn't replaced on my truck. I yanked all of the rubber lines, fuel filters and clamps and Replaced them (took about 10' of hose). While I was at it, I did away with my charcoal canisters too. I did the fuel filters a little differently though. Since there are two fuel lines coming from the tank, I put one of those fancy see through fuel filters on each line under the hood before the lines go into the fuel pump. I also put one in the line going from my fuel pressure regulator to my weber. I was figuring that I would make it easier on myself to see the filters and change them if I had them under the hood instead of under the bed. I can post pictures if you'd like.
This solved my problem instantly! So yeah, check the fuel filters, cut them Open and see what they look like inside. It will probably save you a headache!

And like I said, there are two fuel lines feeding the fuel pump. One line has the filter at the tank below the filler cap and one line has the filter under the hood on the passenger side wheel well. Sometimes, people will remove either one of them thinking there is only one fuel line going to the fuel pump; not the case. Also, as for future diagnostics, try installing a fuel pressure regulator and a fuel pressure gauge. If you know that you are getting lower fuel pressure then you'll know that the problem isn't with the carb, it would be the fuel pump, lines or filters.
This is the fuel pressure regulator that I use - it's a 1-4 lb regulator which is perfect for webers (you may need more pressure for you Aisin):

Ok I investigated this on my truck and I only have one fuel filter. I traced both of the lines coming from the gas tank and there is no other filter other than the one beside the gas tank on the frame. I consulted the Haynes manual to and it only mentions on fuel filter. Maybe the previous owner of your truck added another? You did say he did a lot of stupid crap.

in response to changing the fuel filters I will start over I had to put on a electric pump due to thermostat housing and mechanical fuel pump interferance. I installed a new filter before the pump and I also installed a new filter befor the carb. I did not chane out all the lines just the last foot or so before the carb. there is no trash or rust or any thing in the filters.
Here is what I did I swapped the primary jet out with the primary for the 20r carb its # was 121 when my original jet was a 108 and now it runs like a dream I can roll on throttle and it runs as smooth as my 2010 malibu....it is great. thanks for all the help, I am just a little embarrassed that I started a new thread over this issue and I figured it out really quick.
