How do you mean? Like parts swapping/upgrading or like wearing out?

For parts worn out, I dunno. Haven't put a lot of regular miles on my pickup. As for parts swapping, I got rid of all the front brake system, pretty much. The original calipers leaked, the rotors had been run with pads worn down to the rivets, so they were grooved pretty good, and everything was caked in gear oil/dirt sludge. Went ahead and got extended length brake lines while I had the system apart.

I was thinking about all the factory toyota stuff that gets upgraded, like the seats.

Seats, yes.

Only slightly larger tires, but definitely larger tires than stock.

Mine is staying pretty darn close to stock, OEM. If I want more comfort than some good seats, I'll get a newer truck. I could see upgrading my suspension (don't want a lift, but a slightly smoother ride would sure be nice...), but I don't know about anything else.

Well, I guess I upgraded my transmission when it needed rebuilding and I went with Marlins L52HD.

First things to go on my rig were anything that the PO touched, starting with ALL of the suspension components, steering components, and gears.

this seems to be the smartest thing you could probably do. you don't know what the PO did to make it what it is. but after that is any thing the motor needs. and then after that is personal stuff like the sound system, CB, interior, paint, tires...

Mine was mismatched tires and wheels, stupid tuner stickers on the back window, then was the standard cluster for the SR5 cluster and LED lights, Radio since the PO hooked it up to constant power with the twisted wire and tape trick, OEM Tcase gears and next will probably be the bench seat.

Stock cassette player. Put in a CD/iPod headunit.

I wanted to put in some new seats, but my stock ones are immaculate.. they almost look brand new, so I didn't wanna take them out.

Next was my tires, bought it with 30/9.5/15's and its got almost 6 inches of lift.. looked ridiculous.. now it's sitting nicely on some 36/12.5/15 Super Swampers.

Water pump and thermostat...oh and a fan belt. Other than that I haven't done squat. PO did a pretty good job rebuilding the engine. Starts in any weather (with a little love).

Hey there's nothin wrong with 4" of lift sitting on 30s lol. That's how mine looks right now till I get cash for gears.

although one of the best trucks ever built, they do have their limitations and shortcomings. of course they were improved upon for decades now, but for the guys like me that are trying to improve them in any way, choose things that need improving. myself, got rid of the 4 speed first. of course i have had 4 different trans' in my truck now since i have owned it. but that was the first for me. just curious what everyone starts with for upgrades and whether it is for reliability, comfort or economy.

and as much as i am going to get flamed for this, i was very happy to get rid of my 20R/22R/22RE stuff including the engine that was in my truck.

First things to go was the slave cylinder (leaking), stock carb To weber, 5 speed tranny, the I'm going to do a 20/22r hybrid motor. Once all that is done I'm going to do a 4wd conversion.

well i work at a shop, and because of that, i can do anything on an "R" series motor in my sleep. but on the other side of that, i see all the same failures, of course head gaskets being the most prevalent. so i decided to go out on a limb and do the benz swap, more for the diesel power, but more to get out of my dismal money pit of a hotrod 20R. I had all kinds of nasty things done to it. but all in all it was still just a 20R. after doing the swap, and being fairly happy with it, I started to track my mileage, and not only do i have more usable power at all RPM ranges but i got a 60% increase in mileage. how can you argue with that?

All said and done, I am happy to be rid of my "R" series stuff.

Dont bother with the hybrid motor. you'll be kicking yourself later. if you do a flow bench test on these heads.... (like i did to but old rumors to bed) you will find that the 22RE head is the best flow wise. the 20R head is closed chamber, but you can also find closed chamber 22RE heads (I had a good one and now Yopar has it) that will work with flat top pistons. but like i have mentioned before, its still going to be a 22R. there arent any EFI manifolds available for 20R heads and the power is dismal at best.
