Clutch quit working

My pickup is an 81 2wd with 22r and 4 speed transmission. I drove it last week and everything was fine. I got in it on Monday and immediately the clutch didn't feel quite right. Didn't seem to have as much pressure as it should have. I drove it about 15 miles and it steadily got worse. Got ready to come back home in it and the clutch only worked once or twice. I was able to make it back home. Seems to have gone from working to gone in about 30 miles. as it was quitting, it kept losing pressure and more pressure in the pedal. I hope its nothing major, I hope its the master or slave cylinder. Where should I begin? any suggestions are appreciated. thanks

x2. Check the fluid. If it is low, either a leak or bad slave. If no leak, probably master.

mine did the same thing, and i also drove it like that. i ended up having to replace the clutch because it wasnt grabbing and stripped the clutch out. i would check that. i replaced my slave cyl. and tried to drive it and the clutch was slipping and didnt pull.

Thanks for everyone's help. Turns out the master cylinder was bad. I guess the master cylinder was the problem all along, but now the master and slave have been replaced. Hopefully I'll have no more issues for a while. thanks again!

Reminds me of when I drove my '80 to work one day and the master decided to blow a seal and dump the fluid on my feet...20 miles of grinding gears and rolling up to red lights real slow lol.

Got to work and had to stop at the end of the 1/2 mile drive to open the gate.
