83 22R AC assembly removal. Can I? should I?
I am almost done with an 83 22r 4x4 timing chain job. The owner asked me if I could leave the AC assembly out. He wants all of it off. It has never worked and a PO told him the assembly was shot. There is a smog pump hose involved in the removal and I am wondering if it will cause any issues with the performance of the motor.
Are there any other issues if I take it out regarding smog or performance???

Are there any parts I need to block off or hoses that need to be plugged?
That big hose that runs from under or near the carb that goes to the lower AC unit does it need to be plugged?
And or anything else I should do while I am dealing with the AC?
thanks

you can pull it all out,
you will pass smog fine, skooter may be thinking about the pair system.
If there is any freon in the system then you "Should" have it reclaimed, any AC shop can do this. They may charge you up to $100 bucks.
You can check by pressing the presta valves on the low or high side and see if anything comes out. Its very possible that nothing will come out if it has not worked in years.
After that just start unbolting, be careful they lines are Alum and can bust easy.
Once you have everything off the engine bay side, Dryer, condenser, lines, compressor, you will be left with the hoses at the firewall. At this point you can either plug the hoses at the firewall or take the Evap out. Its under the dash and may be a pain in the ass. I'm not sure..
